 STORYTELLERS MEET IN TOCO

The Regional Radio Project (RRP) based in Jamaica and Storytelling for Early Childhood and Parent Support Project (STEPS) based in Jamaica, in collaboration with the Toco Foundation and the Arts in Action – University of the West Indies, hosted a two (2) day Storytelling/ Radio Consultation, Workshop at the Toco Foundation’s Agro Tourism Centre, Anglais Road, Cumana Toco. on September 25th and 26th 2004

 The objectives of the workshop were:

  • To elicit local stories centered on Parenting and Early Childhood Issues;

  • To identify stories that can be aired on Radio Toco 106.7FM and other radio Stations in the Caribbean.

 This activity was the first in a series of workshops to be held throughout the Caribbean. Participants included: Staffers from Radio Toco 106.7FM; Toco Foundation’s In Reach Parenting Project, Toco Youth and Sexuality Project; Early Childhood association of T&T; local storytellers from Toco and it’s environs; and also Tobago.

The workshop was facilitated by Colleen Wint-Smith, Coordinator of RRR (Jamaica) and Samantha Pierre of Coordinator of STEPS (Trinidad &Tobago).
